Clive,
Nicely done, and fast! I would still be in the planning stages.

Zuludon, several of the scenarios in Mike’s Righteous Harmonious Fists include a train, like the one in your game. Any tips on where one might go to acquire such a train and track? Any help appreciated!

dfj,
The train in my photos is a Timpo Prairie Rocket from the UK. I'm in California and I was able to cobble together a full train from bits and pieces I found on eBay. A new set is crazy expensive, but it's the only plastic train set I know that is 1/32 scale. Working 1/32 scale locomotives are around $500. The other options are O scale 1/48 or G scale 1/24, so too small or too large. Of the 2, I would go with G scale, which will be roomy. You can probably find some new G scale sets in a hobby shop and that would save paying for shipping.

Playmobile do/did suitable RR kit - sometimes 'on sale' - and if you don't want boxes bits can be picked up 2nd hand on ebay etc.
There are also 3D printed versions but these are pricy in our larger scale - but worth checking out.
A German company (name escapes me) does/did large scale electic RR too - I picked som up cheap in a yard sale here in the UK - so worth checking out - will find the name and post if someone else doesn't first.
Much of mine came the same way as zuludon's - some even goes back to being bought brand new when it first appeared!!!!
Lemax do/did some RR bits too IIRC
