Intended as the Skirmish Wargames Collective 'group project', but hasn't worked as such. So I am pretty much out there on my own with a major committment, which I have been enjoying enormously. Creating your own Alien race is 'such fun!' These are 'Zaurians', made from Tehnolog 'Fishmen', which I mistook for Lizardmen. Rearmed with GW weapons (Eldar, dark Eldar and Tyranids), painted with pearlescent blue armour, they seem to look suitably menacing.

Some WIP photos of the Zaurians, and the originals. No clever stuff, just replacement of the weapons really. I had a couple of goes at the latter, actually, until I found the 'right' weapons, ie ones which looked suitably reptilian. I did have a go at making one figure more animated, by putting it into a running pose, which was relatively easy. .

Mike, what rules will you be using for this campaign?

'Joe' - our own STAR rules in our own TODD series (Tales of Derring-Do) of rules. I can send you a set in MSWord if you like?

Mike, I'd be interested in seeing these rules as well. I just sent you a PM. Thanks!
Also, would love to hear how this campaign went, and see any pictures if you have them.

Aplogies all round for the lack of updates on this one. Suffice to say I am not always operating at 100% and the hobby takes the main hit. So - stimulated by the excellent SW thread (which I will also contribute to soon) I will try to post WIP on figures and games here. We have been laying games under the Kraken Nebula label which are genre-pure and cross-genre. Sometimes the figures all come from one universe, sometimes from a number, and somethimes they are just ours. I will get some game reporst up here or provide a link to them, as well as report on figure WIP. So - the Zaurians...were a complete disaster! In there first action they had rings run round them by some Rogue Traders from the Medway Galaxy; in the second they barely got of the start line before malfunctions and crap dice throwing stopped them in their tracks! So I decided it was back to the drawing board with them, for a major overhaul. That has been underway for a while, but keeps getting knocked off course by me rethinking things. I had them planned as a matriarchal society and bit like a cross between Aztecs and... Dark Eldar? And cold blooded, bipedal lizards with prehensil tongues, of course. I hd a lot of airial elements in mind, and spider-type mechtanks. But it just never seemed to quite work. So I experimented with an ethos that was more Orkie for then - no sophistication, more crash, bang, wallop tactically. Experimenting with Tehnolog and other tracked models (for different scales that 43mm) I found a selection of bits that started to look morepromising. I even played around with the paint job, making them darker and more 'menacing', but still wasn't happy, so - confession time - they are on hold for now. I have switched to making my main faction in the campaign more robotic, based on Necrons/Cyborgs/Cylons/Terminators. Zaurian air capability has been transferred to the new faction, whom I am calling Nekrons, and more craft have been added (good old evilBay), my boxes of Tehnolog figures thawed out from hypersleep (dug out of the garage) and off we jolly well!
I have also started to seriously consider the breadth of my wargames forces, and I am coming round to realising I need to narrow my focus iso that I can actually get what I want done in more depth. This should result in a clearout of figures, painted and unpainted, which I will put up in the Swapmeet.

Some WIP photos before the Zaurian project was suspended.
The 3 levels of Z troops - light, heavy and regular... Light and regular are Tehnolog, heavy is a space marine from a video game; all weapons 40K

This was the Zaurian Expeditionary Force mid-reorganisation, at its 'highest' pont. Subsequently all the aircraft and ground vehicles were stolen by the Nekrons... The 'High Priests' front left also switched alliegence and joined another faction (they'd never quite fitted in).
The war walkers got taken away but may well go back again as they now seem to fit the rougher, harder image OK!
