Anthony and I played another Zulu War game with his Little Legion Collection. This time it was the battle of Hlobane - details on the blog. mikelewis.info/littlewars/?p=633

As can be seen in the photo Mike made me some tree tiles after our Isandlwana game so that the scattered woods on the edge of the Hlobane battlefield could be represented. I now have enough figures for all my British infantry to be deployed in two ranks. I'm not quite there yet with my Zulus but only need a few more for all Zulu units to be in two ranks.

Looking good Anthony, especially now the Brits are in 2 ranks, and the Zulus look amazing. Is this the game you'll be doing on the Woking games day?
Best Wishes Dave

Thanks Dave! Actually I was thinking of doing Isandlwana as I have the correct tiles for that. However, as we speak Mike is making me some more tiles to enable me to have 'proper' Hlobane terrain so now I have two options. I have also recently obtained a nice 54mm WW2 collection thanks to Mike letting me know that it had become available so I'm a bit spoilt for choice...! I think the visual aspect of Mike's PWG terrain together with the Little Legion figures will win out and that I will put on one of the two Zulu War battles we have played.
Best wishes Anthony

Tim,
I am extremely envious of you having actually visited the battlefield!
Best wishes Anthony

You probably wouldn't have as we took on the Devils Pass in dreadful conditions - but we didn't have Zulus chasing us along. Been lucky enough to do Eshowe, iNtombe, Ulundi and the Prince Imperial's site - and stood at Jim's place and iSandlwana too many times - have also done Ladysmith, Talana, Elaandsgate, Spion Kop, Chievely and landed at Durban Docks and marched through there 100 years to the day Buller landed. For ww1 have done th whole of the Mons retreat, the Somme Salient, Paschendale to Wipers and ww2 the canal to Dunkirk and Dover. We have also done the Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and the Redan and Sebastapol as well - all in 1:1 scale kit over the years (Crikey almost forgot Majuba, Laings Nek and Newcastle too!) - we have been privileged to have the chance to work out on the sites - gives you a different perspective to things.
