With the Napoleonic era being so big in as much as the spread of the conflict across the globe is concerned I decided that I would concentrate on two areas ONLY - SPAIN and AMERICA. Naturally I've seen the SHARPE TV series and read the books, the stories not made into the programs are better with more wargame scenarios to game. So doing figures for the Pennisular Campaign seemed the obvious place to start. Now I have the actual character figures by CHINTOYS, I can try to make the missing ones or at least build a force around the 95th Rifles and 60th Rifles with Spanish Guerrilla Allies. For the French I've chosen the Gendarmerie of Spain, French Dragoons, Vistula Lancers and possibly a Polish Infantry Regiment (still to be decided on). There are plenty of options for 95th/60th rifles figures, but the Spanish Guerrillas will all have to be heavily converted. Here is my starting point for my group ,which may surprise you.
Armed MONKS appear somewhere in most artwork or illustrations of Spanish Guerrilla groups so felt that they should be represented in my unit.

Next up is my first GENDARME of SPAIN, this was the title for the FRENCH GENDARMERIE used to protect the roads throughout the campaign. Based in blockhouses on the major highways.
My first dismounted DRAGOON. The head is a metal casting form somewhere, but I don't know the make it was one of my show finds years ago. The body is an AIP AWI Infantryman with extra detail - big boots and 'Helmet' spare part sword.
The first VISTULA LANCER, Campaign Dress.

Also looking at adding some British cavalry, so did this one as an experiment to create a KINGS GERMAN LEGION Hussar, or I suppose a BRITISH HUSSAR , wearing his pelisse instead of it hanging off his shoulders.
Fortunately I have got enough figures to do a unit before they disappeared off the market. I have the ITALERI BRITISH DRAGOONS which will be ideal of course straight out if the box, so that will give me two mounted units.

Found some pics of 'old school' conversions, using TIMPO Action Pack figures, gloss painted. I prefer matt now and when I did these I was using 'plasticene' as my modelling putty hardened with superglue, which worked pretty well. 95th Rifles.
French 'Bardin' uniform Infantry.
Napoleon and Sappeur of the Guard.
