I'm thinking about a more conventional Musketeers and Cardinal's Guard game but the Chintoys sets seem to be the only figures available. I'd want to add rouges, bandits, henchmen, bystanders but there don't seem to be many 60mm about (or am I wrong, I've only seen the Chinotys range). I'm wondering how 54mm figures fit in with the 60mm Chintoys? I don't mind the stars being of a more heroic stature but don't want it to look ridiculous. Any thoughts on how that would look would be appreciated.

Wow this thread is so OOD mea culpa. There are photos of our games in the Reports from the Skirmish Line, which is available on Facebook should you indulge or from the editors...perhaps I should post some here? We have had 3 great games using my figures and a splendid period building from from Not-Lego which I distressed to hide its prosaic origins.
To respond to the last post - I mix and match without fear or favour - and no one has ever complained! I used LOTR aand POTC figures for various characters, eg Planchet. LOTR are as tall as Chintoy but more slender. POTC are closer to trad 54mm. I also used Speira 3D printed figures from a coule of the ranges they carry - painted and on the table they all look fine.
Oh there are also King & Country prepainted metals figures for TTN and CGs and main characters- exquisite but not cheap but hey you cant take it with you. I based the Chintoy version of Milady using the K&C figure as the model (which a good friend had kindly given me to cheer me up). Same most of the other Chintoys ie I painted them like the K&C versions, but I do not have the originals - there is a great blog with them all photographed in vignettes, well worth looking at.
I think this scale thing can be a bit of a McGuffin - painting and playing is what it is all about for me and once all the figures are on the table I am lost in another world where milimeters mean nothing!
All IMHO of course and everyone to their own.

Thanks for the info Mike. I just don't want figures which look grossly different - eg I wouldn't mix my Minifig S range figures with modern 28mm. On the model railweay side, I've mixed some 1:22.5 scale figures with 1/24 and 1/25 on my 1/24 scale layout and they're fine. I suspect that the way to find out will be to buy some and see how they match up against my pirate figures (recast Charbens I think). Steve Weston has various figures from eg the ECW in 54mm which might suit if I'm happy with the mix.
Following your earlier recommendation of RFTSK Ian Colwell has kindly sent me issues 180 - 182 and I've enjoyed the merry romp albeit I'm not that keen on fantasy elements in what I think of as 'historical' periods. Probably a reaction to the 'fantasy with everything' trend that seems to be booming.
There seems to be various figures such as Marx recasts in the US but I've not found a source in the UK and fiven my on-going issues with Michigan Toy Soldier I'm not keen to try buying from the US again. I gather that the plastic soldier show is the place to find likely figures but that's May next year! :-)

The new Chintoy TTM/CG have taken my fancy and I plan to do something with them - but not as per Dumas.
I loved a trilogy by Pierre Pevel set in the same time period but with the CG as the heroes (well some of them - the elite Cardinal's Blades) up against the usual villains (including the King's Musketeers!) and as an added complication which will not appeal to all - dragons!!
I started it in 75mm Papo but ran out of steam. Reckon it should be more magageable in 60mm - except for the dragons perhaps!
So - this is the question - sources of 54mm-60mm dragons? Papo are in the main too big - there will be scope for some 'specials' but many of the creatures in the books are man-size and wear ordinary clothes - so head swaps will work if I can find the heads...
Thanks for any and all ideas.
And all the best for 2022.
Schleich do dragons but they are pricey, I have cheapo ones I collected from garage sales.
