Thinking of dipping my toe into this one as I have a load of Solido post war tanks etc along with these chaps - any thoughts on unit sizes etc? This will be the basis for my Brits along with some Deetail paras etc Was thinking of these chaps for either the enemy force or as West German allies - any thoughts from the collective mindset? Tim,
When I tried Little Cold Wars I found it very difficult to find suitable Soviet/Warsaw Pact figures in 54mm. I used Airfix 'modern' i.e. 1980s British for the good guys and a strange set of Warsaw Pact 1/35 figures from Italeri (I think) which had one figure per Warsaw pact country!! Specially designed for it not to be possible to build any one WP army....
However, if you going for the toy soldier look rather than 'realistic' I think Deetail and Timpo Brits versus those figures in your second pic would look fine.
Best wishes
Anthony

Sorry I missed this thread starting! There is a selection of orbats, together with notes on sourcing toys and figures, in the LCW book. My original Warpact Infantry have the look of Yugoslav militia and are mostly Airfix DAK and GJR. My Category Three battalion is made up of mostly Airfix WW2 Russians. The Cat Two is a mix of Airfix ‘modern’ Russians and Esci Warpact. The Cat One battalion is mostly the Mars Motor Rifle troopers. But I can stop anytime.

Tim has reminded me that it was Esci that made the 'here's an LMG from Poland, radio operator from Hungary etc' set of Warsaw Pact 54mm figures, not Italeri.
