Is anyone just using trash - old cans, used plastic bottles, etc as the basis for scenery ? I found a few YouTube videos for 28mm gamers, but the technique would work for our size too.
Here a quick experiment. The walkways are biscuit wrapper inserts, the green bottle are for some kind of lotion with pump lids, the purple bit is the base of another pump type bottle for liquid soap and the white jar with orange lid was a powered hot drink container. Obviously painted and decorated they will look more SciFi With the additions of , maybe straws as connectors and pipes I could probably construct a piece of industrial machinery or pumping station. The figures are two 54mm conversions for scale.

I hear what you say about finding the time to finish projects. PRINGLES Chip containers are also quite useful for adding height to your board in the form of a landing pad like the one on ENDOR, the tubes could become elevator shafts with some doors added at the ground level and a cut down container on the landing pad to show where the entrance is. Here is a solution for your wilting Tomato plant trees, decoupage spray, used by hobbyists that do dried flower arrangements and pictures. Many types available - Matt, Gloss, high gloss, etc. The one I use is 'PLASTI-KOTE Projekt Paint CLEAR SEALER #549 MATT' it is completely clear, does not yellow with age and goes on evenly, actually you have to remember where you sprayed as it dries so well you don't notice it It also works on painted acrylic figures, although does matt the entire guy down so if you want his leather/metal work shiny you'll have to gloss it afterwards.

Have started a parallel theme on a town layout - a different take on this one, which is more parctical? I will dig out some of my bits and post photos and ideas. Les put me on to the Playpeople jail - excellent piece but I only have a small part of it - keep my eye open for more on eBay and at carboots.

Finally something to add to this thread I have been trying to get through my backlog of conversions and painting...nearly there I'll post more pics soon In the meantime I made an outpost/ sniper tower thing based on a youtube clip I found. Surprisingly easy to make once you've got your angles. It's made from mdf with card for the panels. All the sections are removable so it can be used in a few different ways. Figure for scale is a converted unleased scout trooper (about 53mm to top of head) with a 3d printed sniper rifle. He is my sons favourite figure. we are playing a simple game with one dice and alot of sound effects

this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekTcneGDSo0I didn't scale it up too much either. But I avoided the foam, although in hindsight it would make the buildings super durable. I'm beginning to realise you don't necessarily need to double the size of your buildings if you're doubling the scale of the figs (eg 28mm to 54mm). I know i've read this a number of times on this forum but I am slow learner So I'm looking at my terrain making efforts with a fresh perspective; doubling door size but not building size for example.

Another blurry pic from me. Here's my son strength testing a work in progress bunker. It's made from 5mm mdf mainly and can fortunately withstand 30kg weight To the right is a hasbro At st for scale I'm making a fair of terrain at the moment including a dungeon-crawl style tiles for star wars. More and better pics later

Hah that's a great pic! And didn't realize how in-scale the Hasbro AT-ST is for 54mm.

Hah that's a great pic! And didn't realize how in-scale the Hasbro AT-ST is for 54mm. yeah it's a pretty good fit and you can pick them up reasonably cheaply. The bigger AT AT also works well and is good fun but makes any game fairly one sided
