I'm collecting a force of Prussians to save Wellington's bacon at Waterloo and to give the French someone to fight who doesn't employ a two deep firing line. Prussian infantry are well represented by HaT and Armies in plastic, including Landwehr, but Prussian artillery and, especially heavy cavalry, seem to be lacking or non existent in plastic. Now, I know Les would just take some WW2 Afrika Korps figures and some putty and come up with Prussian Cuirassiers, but I am hoping for some easier conversions, hopefully nothing more demanding than head swaps.
What have others used for their Prussian artillery and cavalry?
Thanks, Nick Stern

Well thanks for the vote of confidence that I could produce Prussians out of WW2 figures Here is an easier way. Both Hat and AIP have poses suitable for Artillerymen when rifles are replaced with suitable accessories - Ramrod, hands pike etc. I have seen conversions done from both sets. I expect you could use a AIP French Gun repainted in BLUE that would look reasonable. In fact this cropped pic from a recent entry on this forum shows it can be done. The other conversions I've seen have the crew in the covered shako, but I expect both options to be correct.
The easiest Prussian Cavalry at Waterloo to produce are the '3rd Silesian Landweher Cavalry' ( Lancers) using AIP Crimean War lancers which are already available in many different colours as Napoleonics. Possibly Prussian Hussars using AIP Crimean War hussars with adapted hats, change the shape by carving or adding putty.
More generic and need more work to change the look would be DSG Argentinian Cavalry, as they are pretty basic uniform wise and can be changed into quite a few different types for various countries. Here is a DSG rider with a 'Helmet' spare head attached, as the start of an Austrian Cuirassieur (I think, it's a while since I started him, he could be a Russian )
As you can see the 'Helmet' parts are a perfect fit for the scale. The pvc material is easy to cut, so carving off the long boot tops to create overalls is not a huge issue.
Is this any help ?

Had a quick look through my files of other folks conversions and found these by a guy called FISH or FISHHEAD, he showed a lot of his excellent conversions on the old Hat 1/32 Blog and on Treefrog Treasures Forum. Here is his Prussian Artillery crew conversions from HAT Prussian Infantry sets.
I think they work great ! A lot of work has gone into these.

FWIW...Some Landwehr cavalry from the Supreme copies of Italeri British Light Dragoons...simple headswap with AIP/HaT, right arm replacements and brass lances, coats extended with mputty.

MIke, These conversion are nice! This set lends itself to lots of conversions , it's a pity they are not easy to find any more. The same company SUNJADE was supposed to be doing more , with French Cuirassiers being mentioned as the next set but nothing seems to have come of this.

Yes, it is a shame that they didn't go on to do some more.

Mike Wonderful conversions!! I should have hung onto my Prussians a bit longer so when the Supreme figures came out, I would have had fairly cheap source material for conversions! I agree with Les re Prussian gunners as when I did mine, I used the Hat Prussians as a starting point with adding rammers, trail spikes etc. Unfortunately I had a change of heart and sold my painted Prussians to one of the Skirmish Wargames Group member some years ago and never got round to taking any pics of them.
