Thought I'd post a few AWI conversions I did some years ago First up is a Drummer converted from an Accurate figure with addition of a drum/drum sticks and greenstuff drum strap Attachments:

Next, a militiaman converted from an Italeri ACW figure in great coat with cape, which is far to short for regulation ACW but looks ok to me for my AWI. The head is from an Accurate AWI figure

Next is a Militia Officer which was a very basic conversion from the Accurate AWI militia set with basically just a sword in it's scabbard and a greenstuff waist sash added but also a head change with the donor being a Britains British Infantryman that I had bought cheap.

Showing the original figure along with the above and another conversion from the same figure The converted militiaman with musket has had a change of arms from Helmet Products, a metal musket from my spares box and a change of head from an Accurate AWI figure. Helmet Products are very useful for spare parts (as well as inexpensive kits), see link below www.helmetsoldiers.co.uk/

A picture of a couple of casualties that tend to make from Figures I feel have no practical use. In this case, the figure on the left is a Pirate from a cheap set I picked up from somewhere with an old Timpo (or similar) tricorn. The righthand figure is made from the Accurate AWI standard-bearer with the flag carved away - my least favourite Accurate AWI figure!!

A rather poor picture of my AWI American Rifleman, all mounted on 50mm washers to differentiate from musket armed troops and to accommodate the figures with the long rifles to minimise being nocked. Some are armed with Maros Miniatures Rifles, which are superb but sadly no longer available.

Here is no so much a conversion but a re-painted Britains figure of Alexander Hamilton. As already painted with the basic colours, I just had to use wahes and highlights and he's come up a treat IMHO Again I managed to precure him at a very reasonable price.

My final conversion post, for now, is a first for me (can't believe it's taken me so long to use this method) in so far as his floppy hat has been made from self-adhesive paper circles with greenstuff crown, all sealed in with a coat of pva. I was told many years ago that you could use stationary reinforcing paper rings that you use to be able to get for reinforcing punch holed paper documents etc, but as I couldn't find any, I came across some coloured self-adhesive paper circles, no doubt for kids to use, but they've done the trick for me. The figure was a Queens Ranger grenadier that I converted about 10 years ago but recently rediscovered him and didn't like the headdress I'd converted so cut it off and added said floppy hat. He will now be touched up to be a British Legion infantry man.

Beautifully done and well painted Stu. Wish I was clever enough to convert figures, although as I have a mate who is a figure sculptor I suppose I can be lazy and ask him to do it (-and he makes a better job!!!!)
Well done

Another old conversion I did is a mounted militiaman, doing a John Wayne stunt by firing his musket whilst on a galloping horse!! Note to self - next time, choose a stationary horse! The figure is an old CTS one with change of head, musket sling and stirrups added and mounted on an Italeri horse. Attachments:

Do you game with them Stu? If so, what about some photos of these lovely figures in action 😀

I used to game with them when I had a partner in my club but he left some years ago so now trying to build enough for both sides as the lads at our club will play when I've done both sides and my son has just built himself a gaming cabin at the bottom of his garden, so we'll be able to get them out there eventually. Sadly I have no pics from old games as pre camera phones and a decent 35mm camera used to cost the earth, oh how times have changed! Stu

I've seen all these in the flesh and they are even better than the photos show.
