Just a reminder that this show will soon be upon us and takes place at the Edgbaston Cricket ground, B5 7QU.
The good news is that Anthony and Mike will be there with a stall (Imperial Miniatures?) and there will be a 54mm wargame taking place using Andrew's figures from Replica Metal Soldiers. It's a Sudan game - Brits v Egyptians.
I'll be partaking in the 54mm game.
So I hope all forum members who attend will come over and say "Hello" to me and Anthony and Mike.
Have a great day if you attend.
Best Wishes Dave

Hi guys.
Some disappointing news about the Birmingham show.
Andrew, of Replica Metal Soldiers is now unable to attend (he's tied up with work involving the Thomas Cook problem). This means that the 54mm game will not be taking place, so unfortunately, our beloved scale won't get an outing at this show (Although Andrew will be at the London toy soldier show and the SELWEG wargames show)
I'll still be going so hopefully might meet some of you at Mike and Anthony's stall.
Best Wishes Dave

Poor Andrew, how vexing for him. Will his game be at the two shows you mention?

Good to see Dave, Tim and Graham at the show. A pity that it wasn't that well attended and died almost completely by 1pm.
Along with the rest of the traders we packed up at 2pm and were home by 17.15 (the show was supposed to close at 4pm!).

I arrived at 1000 and left at about 1230. It wasn’t exactly rammed... Good to see friends though (Mike, Anthony, Graham, John, Mike C) and I picked up a few gems. Well some old tat really but priced accordingly!

Yes I attended on Sunday which was my first time in 8 years or so, mainly due to the fact that it always clashed with the Derby Worlds wargame show and since the demise of that show, I was determined to go this year. I was very surprised how empty it felt compared from when I last went, as I remember it was always busy and had a good buzz about the show when it was in the old venue all those years ago. I didn't notice King & Country or John Jenkins Design or the like there, I assume they don't attend this show anymore, which is a shame as I always used to enjoy seeing their "dioramas" etc. I assume they attend the London shows? Is it that we are all getting a lot older and maybe (dare I say) not so many of us are around anymore as I'm in my mid 50's and I would be surprised if anyone in their 40's or younger would know much about or have nostalgia for old Timpo or Britain's figures etc as there seemed to be a lot of vendors selling the same things. I was with my son who is 30 and he was very surprised how much some of the said figures were on sale for, as being of a different generation, he thought how ridiculous the prices were for what he saw as poorly "painted" figures as even though he is a wargamer, he knows nothing of figures that my generation and older have nostalgia for!! I overheard one vendor say that the show was dying on it's feet! To be honest, I was only interested in figures I can use for wargaming and converting etc and was pleased to pick up some bargains from Steve Weston Just wished that I hadn't been on such a tight budget as could have added a lot more to the plastic pile! It would be a shame if they didn't put this show on next year and only the London shows being the ones around, but there looked a lot of fed up traders on Sunday, so I wouldn't be surprised if this may have been the last Birmingham show?

The UK distributor for King & Country went out of business a few years ago and I don't think K&C are represented by anyone in the UK now, last time they were at the Central London show the owner, Andy Neilson brought a team over from Hong Kong, that was in 2016: toysoldiercollecting.blogspot.com/2016/12/king-country-at-london-toy-soldier-show.htmlAlso I don't recall seeing John Jenkins Design at this show for a while, a number of the London shows are struggling and one has closed down due to costs, happily the Skirmish show in Sidcup and the Plastic Warrior show in West London are both going strong.
