Welcome to the Dorset Model Soldiers Board.
This is to let people discuss the ranges, suggest additions, ask questions, etc.

Good luck Mike. I used to get all sorts of bits from the lovely guy who used to run it (name escapes me)

The lovely Giles Brown ? Mike Lewis did you get the Taylor and Barrett moulds as well ? I don't know what the moulds cover as I have only seen them but not examined in detail. I am picking up everything in a 3.5 ton Luton Van on the 29th so once it is sorted I should know what I've got! And, yes, the original owner was Giles Brown - he still runs a Toy Soldier shop in Fortuneswell on Portland 2 days a week and does repairs for people...

Outstanding - good luck with the transportation. Be interesting to see what you've got. So will you be retailing under the Dorset name, or will the range become part of the 'Imperial forces' ?

Dorset will stay under its own website and name as people are used to it and it is a different sort of business to AQM as most of the Dorset ranges are recasts of old figures, while Imperial Miniatures are all originals. There will be some cross-promotion of course!

We drove a 3.5 ton Luton van down to Portland and back yesterday to pick up the Dorset Model Soldiers moulds, stock, etc.
4 hours to pack the van with 5 of us and we still didn't manage to fit everything in! Hopefully going back in a couple of weeks with a smaller van to pick up the master castings, master paint samples and bits and pieces of moulds and stock we didn't manage to fit in.
It is going to take me a couple of weeks to sort everything and find where to put everything; but I hope to start casting for orders the middle of the week beginning 9th December...

Best of luck Mike, happy to help Eric Thanks Eric - think I am getting there... Still loading stock onto shelves at the moment. I have made contact with Giles Brown, which has been a big help, and and now updated the website with the latest casting list. The one previously listed was several years out of date and missing a lot of the later items...

Returned to Portland, Dorset today with a smaller van and my wife, Sarah, along as a helper. We met up with Giles Brown, the original owner of Dorset Soldiers and I had a good chat with him and managed to pick up some useful documentation and a load of photographs which I am hoping will let me eventually update the website.
Went to the unit and picked up the rest of the moulds, stock, painted masters, masters, printed sheets, drop moulds and various other bits and pieces. Filling the van we had taken - but hopefully we now have everything bar the few bits and pieces I need from Andy Gibbs.
I now need to sort through everything we brought back but I hope to be in a position to handle most orders without problems in the New Year...
