I enjoyed seeing pictures of your game and reading about it. The armies look great and the scenery works really well too. The sheep in the field is a nice touch.

Thank you, I hope that people do enjoy looking at gamers pictures I find that I do. Next intend to refought a ECW scenario rather than a one off battle in the future. Need to make lots of hedges, character figures and artillery. Will try and make a Scots unit of shot most likely a bit of putty for bonnets. Will also purchase toy farmyard sets for more wagons and horses that I use for dismounted dragoons with horse holders. Thinking of trying shot formations working with pike in units of four figures wide and four deep. This seems more historical shot in units of blocks rather than lines of shot that wargamers have adopted. When your playing you don't notice the 54mm scale but a lot of figures to carry. If you would like to see more pictures please go to Omagh Wargames Club facebook site. What a great hobby playing with toy soldiers for fun.

Great to see the photos Auty. Looking great and nice scenery and table layout. My units are smaller than yours - 12 infantry and 4 cavalry.
What rules are you using? I've used For King and Parliament and got my ideas for unit sizes from Dirk Donvil's About Cromwell rules.
54mm really makes an impact for this period.
Look forward to more photos
Best Wishes Dave

The rules are Warhammer Historical English Civil War. We used to play these rules ten years ago but were not happy with the pike and shot units acting together. Moved on to our own rules then Black Powder Pike and Shotte which I do like in 28mm. I thought WHECW would work for 54mm which they do and are a bit of fun. All shot and artillery get 4 tiddlywinks per unit for powder with spares in wagons, roll d6 plus two for army reserve. No powder used for pistols. You have to be careful not to blaze away otherwise your have no ammo. Change of rules shot units join parent pike unit by passing leadership. The figures are A call to Arms Miniatures around £5 per box of 16 infantry or 4 Cav. plastic figures, a bargain. The pike is metal rod and are more expensive than the figure holding them, have moved onto model rod made out of some fiber that I cannot recall now. Main drawback is the amount of plastic tub boxes I use to carry the figures to club but fast to put away at end of meeting. Plus as both armies are mine have to bring all. Still a work in progress, must have more hedges. No sheep were hurt in the making of this wargame !
