Hi. Like my Napoleonic port, here is an outline of some new figures from Scott Lam from Expeditionary-Force. Greek artillery will be out later in the year, but some supplementary sets/extensions for the z Greek and Persian ranges will appear shortly. They hope by June 2017. Eg. Iphicratic reformed Hoplites (quilted corslets, Illyrian helmets). So keep an eye out on their site www.expeditionaryforce.com.sgBest Wishes Dave

Hi. Had an update from Scott Lam from Ex-Force. He says the Greek artillery will now be out late 2017 as they're focusing on the Napoleonics at the moment.
However, there should be a release any time now (July) of the following:
60 GRK 05 Classical Greek cavalry with 4 head options. They're in muscled bronze cuirass (older figures re-sculpted to fit in better with the Macedonian sets)
60 GRK 06 Iphicratian-Reformed/Late Hoplite with 4 head options. They're in quilted linen armour with smaller shield and longer spear.
The rest of the Greek sets (GRK 01 - 04) HAVE been slightly modified and have new heads and hard plastic spears.
The same will be done with the Persians July/August.
This is a fantastic range of figures and I hope this update will be useful to fellow collectors.
Best Wishes Dave

Hey Davel, Any experience with how compatible different sets of X-Force troops are? Specifically, I'm wondering if the heads from the ancients would swap well with the bodies from the Zulu range. I'm interested in doing some sort of alternate history, steampunk game where a time traveler helps the Romans invent gunpowder or similar, and so you have legions with muskets, a la: img.photobucket.com/albums/v156/dickjensen/RomanOfficer18652.gifI know the ancients are supposed to be 60mm and the other sets are 54mm but does it make a huge difference?

Hi adnj,
Sorry but can't help with that one as I haven't yet compared the different scaled figures. I'd be in a better position to do do so after August when I buy some of their 54mm Napoleonics. I sent some examples of figures to a friend in Ireland so he could compare them with his Hat figures and he found them a bit too large to fit in.
However, if you could somehow let me have your contact details, I could send you some spare heads so have so you can "try before you buy"!! Let me know if that would be useful to you and I'll post them to you. I have Greek/Macedonian and come Persian heads you could try, so just let me know which sort you'd find the most useful and if you just want one or would prefer a few to try.
Best Wishes Dave

P.S. for aducknamedjoe,
Love the drawing. What a great idea. There's a perfect helmet/head in the Macedonian sets that is identical to the one on the figure in the drawing. So can send you one or more of those if that would be useful.

Hi. Had an email from Scott Lam from Ex-Force explaining their new Iphicratic-reformed Hoplites in quilted linen armour, so thought I'd pass the info on.
There are 4 versions of the set,
60 GRK 06-1H Iphicratic Hoplites with full crested Chalcidean helmets
60 GRK 06-N Ionian Greek Hoplites with Phrygian helmets and crests
60 GRK 06-S Spartan late Hoplites with Pilos helmet and crests
60 GRK 06-T Theban Hoplites with Boetian helmets and crests
Hope that's useful. Ex-Force are developing a great range of nicely produced figures.
Best Wishes Dave

Dave,
Thanks for the offer! I sent you a private message.
I got the idea after reading "Lest Darkness Fall" by L. Sprague de Camp, and a follow-up short story called "The Apotheosis of Martin Padway" about an archeologist from the 1930s who gets sent back to pre-fall Rome.

Hi Dave, I'm busy with a Plataea project, that woudn't have been possible without the X-Force figures. Still a lot to paint(7boxes of infantry 3 of cavalry). But we did already a test game with our house rule "About Caesar". pmcd-mobilisatie.blogspot.be/2017/07/road-to-plataea-fictive-battle-greek.htmlWe will be at Crisis Antwerp in November with a 4m on 2m table. The plan is 19 units of 8 figures on the Greek side. For the Persians: 25 units infantry of 8 figures and 7 cavalry of 4 figures . And of course generals and offiers. It's a participation game. So everyone can join in. Cheers Dirk

Hi Dirk,
Glad the Ex-Force figures are useful. I think they're a great range of figures, which is why I keep putting the updates on the site. (There's no truth in the rumour that I have shares in the company!!!!!!).
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make Crisis. But hopefully, when I retire next year, I will be able to make such events and meet some of the friends I talk to on the forum.
Good luck with the game, and hopefully we'll see some photos on the forum.
Just doing a game with your Napoleonic rules. We're having great fun with them. Looking forward to having a game with About Caesar when I've painted some more figures.
Best Wishes Dave

Hi aducknamedjoe,
Not sure if my messages are getting through, but just wondered if you'd received the heads yet. I'm sure others would be interested if the ancient heads fit the other ranges of ex-force figures and look forward to seeing some photos of the results.
Best Wishes Dave

Hi Dirk.
Visited the blogspot. Great pictures. I think ex-force are helping to make 54/60mm gaming even more popular, and have a great range of figures. Your figures are certainly looking good. Look forward to seeing pictures of the battle and hopefully a video on YouTube to go along with all your other great battle videos.
Best Wishes Dave
