So for my Stupid Historicon 2024 Project, I've settled on the landing by the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment at Nan Red on Juno Beach. I purchased some figures from Steve Weston and here's the first I've finished. Several more are in the pipeline and I still have to paint his rank on his shoulder straps, but I'm happy with the results. I know that the North Shores wore the 3 Div boot and wouldn't have had gaiters, but I love the sculpt and I didn't think it worth it to screw it up. One down.....and a bunch more to go... Cheers and Maple Leaf UP! Eric

Beautifully painted - these are attractive figures, I bought 2 to 3 bags when Steve Weston was doing a special offer but I have yet to paint them. I look forward to seeing them all be prepared and in training for your Historicon challenge game.

epturner,
Can you recommend a good book about the Canadians on Juno Beach? I would like to learn more about the British and Canadian D-Day beaches.
Very nice Steve Weston figures, at a very reasonable price!

Nick; I highly recommend "Juno Beach" by Mark Zuehlke.
I can pretty much recommend ANYTHING by Mark Zuehlke. He's got a nice writing style and has done his research.
Hope that helps!

bit late joining in but good luck with the project. Not familiar with the boot you say they wore but often just painting the gaiter/sock the same colour as the shoe does the trick...just a thought.
I have some of these excellent figures, and converted them to Free French Fusilier Marine by simply giving them all berets with a popmpom. Thet helped save De Gaulle but not Churchill and the Daleks got him...
