I ran a 54mm Arnhem game at our local game convention, Pacificon, on Sept.1. The game table was 6X12 feet and I had been preparing the troops and the buildings for almost a year. I used Bolt Action rules and with some modification to the activation system it played well with eight players in a convention setting. The British Paras started the game in hidden positions marked on a map and the Germans had to find them, usually by triggering an ambush. The British held their own until the two German tanks came onto the table and began destroying whole houses with HE. I had hoped that the British would be able to take out at least one tank with their PIATs or 6 pounder antitank gun, but luck was not with them.

Looks great!
How do you guys like Bolt Action? I played old school 40k back in the day and I hear the same guy designed the rules (Rick Priestly).

I thought Bolt Action worked well for this game. Only thing I would change is to lose the range limits for 54mm and have everything except for pistols, PIATS and Sten guns in range if you can see it and to triple the range of those. The range limits led to some weird situations like a Sten on the top of a building not being able to hit a target at the base of the building.

Good to know, just ordered some 1/32 German and American paras and looking for a good skirmish rule set to use with them. THanks!
