I've just been on Tradgargmastres' Blog ,Hi! and noted you are reading 'BABYLON BERLIN'. I just discovered the Netflix series on DVD , series 1 and 2 and picked it up cheap on EBay.
Watched the first two episodes and it's shaping up to be an interesting storyline and excellent atmospheric scenery of BERLIN in 1929.
I came across a series of pictures in the BUNDESARCHIV labelled 'hunting communists in Berlin', it was interesting to see the BERLIN SCHUTZPOLIZEI utilising army weaponry -98K rifles, ammo carriers, bayonets, and even MG08 machine guns.
So with my interests in World Police uniforms I decided to create a unit of BERLIN SCHUTZPOLIZEI fully armed as BERHEITSSCHAFTPOLIZEI (Emergency Unit or BEPo). Here is my first effort.
Taking the backpack off was the main problem , so I may have to have a rethink on using a different torso.
The Green collar patch signifies the BEPo, Cornflower Blue for the regular unit SCHUTZPOLIZE and Yellow for VerkehrsPolizei (Traffic Unit).
Although I'm going for the 1929 era the uniform changed very little from it's first use of the Jaeger Scahko issued around 1919, so he would work for the German Revolution too!
For the communists I'm working on converting some AIP Boers with flat cap civilian heads and some workers peaked cap heads from AIP Napoleonic Prussian Militia.
Reading about this period within mainland Europe. it seems that most countries were also chasing communists, etc. So I'll be doing similar Police/Gendarmerie units for Austria, France, Hungary, Spain, Italy, etc. AIP sets will lend them selves very nicely to doing this. It is probably possible to do a VERY EUROPEAN CIVIL WAR based on the political situations around to continent in a similar vein to a VERY BRITISH CIVIL WAR Game. Should have some more figures to share shortly ,lots of work on the go
