All the games look great and look like they were fun to play in. Well done to all!

Thanks for the comments on the Romans and Celts. The signal tower is made from foam board mounted on plywood steet. Eric

Popped over to the blog and greatly enjoyed the games day pictures, a chance to see what we missed! Some splendid shiny looking Games and figures. I'm glad the day went ahead! I thought the Pippin Fort and Railway looked splendid, myself being of the Chigley Camberwick Green and Trumpton generation. Forty to fifty years later I can still sing many of the songs, having played the grooves off the LP of two old episodes. About ten odd years ago I repainted especially for one of the younger members of my family these very odd Pippin Fort boys to play with (now back within my collection) alongside a simple Pippin Fort. Mostly China clones of Timpo and Airfix but a few original Airfix 54mm Japanese Rifleman (one of my childhood favourite old fashioned looking figures). The famous Pippin Fort Army Truck used was a spare battered old Airfix Hanomag halftrack that was already painted suitably brown. In such young hands, they all worked well enough as Trumpton toy characters. manoftinblog.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/pound-store-wars/

The Airfix Japanese chaps are very effective indeed as the boys from Pippin Fort.

What I really wanted for Pippin Fort boys as a child were a set of the Timpo Prussians marching figure but as a child, I had only one of each of these poses. There were no more around at the time.

A Great day playing games at the convention last Saturday. I only "won" 1 game out of 4 or 5, but it was a great day. Thought I'd share a photo of Mike, trying to look sympathetic as he destroyed yet another of my Zulu units!!!!!

Very sorry to hear about Les, his conversions and other work was really inspiring Looks like the games day was fun though, glad you all were able to put it on, and I echo all the comments about wonderful looking scenery and figures.

Hi guys. I Don't want to appear negative, but has any thought been given to our wonderful day of gaming next March, 2021? I only ask as so many events next year are already being cancelled - the model shows at Bolton in January, Crewe in February and Cosford air museum in April.
I know we Don't know what the situation will be next March, and as ours is a small gathering, I suppose things can be left to nearer the time.
But I just wondered what Mike thought about it. At the moment, I'm quite happy to attend,as we can fairly easily safe distance, but things may change.
I usually book the hotel at the beginning of January, so there's time yet, but I just wondered if any thought had been given to it yet?
Keep safe and well guys

Good point Dave. For what its worth I think we could easily go ahead as the room is large and there aren't many of us. Currently community groups can meet as long as people stay in groups of six and each group socially distances from other groups of six at the location. Of course, I don't know what Christchurch's policy is at present.
Cheers Anthony

Christchurch is bringing back their conferencing at the start of October and seeing how it goes. I think we will have to leave it until the start of next year to make a decision.
The December Toy Soldier Show has been cancelled this year and they are still hopeful that the March show will go ahead, but no one really knows where we will be in March 2021...

I think we need to wait till nearer the time to make a decision. It is such an ever changing thing we are dealing with and I feel that it is so hard to predict next month let alone next year. It would be great to think that things would change to enable us to meet once more. If not 2021 then roll on 2022! Joking aside perhaps we might consider moving our March meeting to say next October when hopefully a real sea change might have occurred. What do people think of that as an idea?

A good idea Alan.
Don't want people to think I'm causing a fuss unnecessarily, but It's just that the Woking games day is one of the highlights of my year, that I Don't want to miss it. I know that Alan and one or two others had to muss this year with the advent of Covid, and I'm hoping no-One will have to miss next year.
So I just thought It's as well to plan in advance.
Really hope to see friends in Woking next year

I know what Dave means, it is a unique event and one eagerly anticipated by many of us. What do others think?

How about one in March for those can make it and another in October? I would happily support both!
