I love the look and feel of this game. Are the figures AIP? Have to say I like the colours of the two sides a lot - as a fellow dabbler in unpainted wargaming I've come to pay a lot more attention to shades of plastic than I used to! Thank you for sharing this!

Nice report.
I have the book but have never played the rules (or The Wargame either). It is on my list to try out when I find a willing volunteer...

Thanks!
gonefishing yes, these are all AIP (with the exception of the green Prothan cannon...). I like that they offer the same sets in a lot of different colors, though the posing can be a bit stiff sometimes. I'm also using ACTA, plus some Accurate, Conte, and Airfix troops for this "setting" (seeing as it's all imagi-nations I can mix ACW with colonial, with Russian Revolution, and even Napoleonic for some of the less advanced countries...).
Mike Lewis I did really like it. Still a bit wary of the Advanced rules, but a fun quick game that "felt" right and wasn't hard to pick up. Sounds like an option for the gaming day...

Yes, I've always liked how AIP offers such an array of colours. I wish more manufacturers did this. Must say I especially like the the light jade green troops - lovely shade!

Yes, they're probably my favorite, though the same Russian figs also come in a cranberry red which I also quite like.

Looks like fun.
Charge! was my first full set of wargame rules although it was soon replaced by the more serious WRG 3rd ed ancients. Took me till the turn of the century to rediscover them and start playing them again. They are still good rules, simple and effective but with more effective at encouraging period tactics than most complicated sets.

Yes definitely fun, and did seem to provide for a (relatively) realistic outcome. Do you use the Elementary or Advanced version of the rules?
