And Yes, I am working on getting better terrain. 🙂 Looks really good - I guess that a cloth would help the look - but figures do stand up so much better on a flat hard surface!

What more does one need other than a scattering of lichen... er, clump foliage? After all, isn't being seven all about being able to suspend the power of disbelief? I think I was using 1/72 Airfix figures and Lincoln Logs at that age.

I've still got the lichen I bought from the model shop (for railway modelling at the time) at the age of 11!

My life like railroad tree dried up years ago. Ok 25 years ago. I wish I had kept them, but I was moving overseas and .....
I like the look of the table. I just want to get some nice roads instead of masking tape.

I remember these pics from a few years ago, Matthew. What is your son now, 27?

I think he's 9 going on 30. Yes, older pictures. That's how long it's been since I had time for a game. But this month is looking good, so I hope to have some new pictures soon.

Matthew, I am intrigued by the North African/Middle Eastern/Indian fortress you've got stored behind your game table. Can you tell us more about it. What figures and periods you game with it?

"some nice roads instead of masking tape."
I have a painted table top and have taken to laying down masking tape roads (tan) and rivers (blue) then using thinned craft paints to make wavy lines on the river and some wavy green banks to fool the eye into seeing it as less canal like and to make the roads dusty brown with some darker ruts. Takes me about 5 minutes (maybe 10 on a bigger/complex layout) and when done I peel it off and hang it in a corner. I can usually get 3 or 4 reuses even if I have to add more bits for the next lay out.
My version of the old chaulked on rivers.

Hi Zuludon,
Those are Roman walled fortresses buildings. They are 28mm. They were made by Crescent Root Studios back in 2006. I use them for a lot of games in 28mm from fantasy to pirates.
I have some old Conte Buildings from the northwest frontier sets that I use for displays. I would love to game the Sudan in 54mm, but I have too much invested in 28mm Sudan.
Hi Ross,
I have done the chalk too. I am just looking for something that I don't have to destroy after the game.

Had my kids painting figs at ages 8 and 5. Once they learn to read dice and learn to measure it makes it easy to game.
