The weather was FINALLY nice enough (dry but not unbearably hot) to cast my custom artillery crew figs (an at ease body with a gurka pillbox head - or a french kepi head), to be paired with AIP Krupp guns. The Britians die cast firing artillery is great and all but looks too Great War and too long range for tabletop battles IMO.

Good progress thus far. I sprayed the guns with gray primer which does a lot to make them less plastic looking. I painted the seat padding black, but I may leave the rest gray and just gloss coat them. Block painting the figs will prob be finished today. These will really improve the look of my French and British forces and make some Invasion of 1897 games more feasible - the hodge podge nature of my artillery has always bugged me a bit in my games...
Block painting done on these, I think. Glued figs to 1mm thick mdf bases from Litko. Got a nice coat of brush on varnish on to shine everything up. At first thought it was running off the gun barrels, resulting in no shine, then I realized I was using the matte varnish! 😂😂😂 Here's everything while the matte coat was still wet though...
Hi, was browsing and your image created a great symmetry with my newly painted French artillery! So impressed I joined up. I'm currently building an army Red and army Blue to fight Wellsian battles based on the Invasion scares of the late 19th century, early 20th.

Welcome aboard! I look forward to seeing and hearing how your Wellsian project moves forward. This is a friendly group full of fellow travellers who are more than happy to enthuse or offer help.
