Hi Dave,
They would not by any chance happen to have 54mm armies?
The issue we may have at the moment is there being enough units in the opposing armies to to be able to give them a command. If we can then it would be great, might also have to borrow some of your Hexon terrain.

I've been looking for news of further disruption to rail travel but there's no update at present. National rail enquiries are listing trains for that weekend but that's no guarantee. So I regret to say that my attendance is still only 'possible' for the moment.
If I can attened I'll likely stay at the Travelodge. I may still be blocked from booking at Premier Inn becuase when I stayed at their Sheffield site in July 2022 I complained about the breakfast arrangements (a hotel full and they only had two staff on who were running back and forth and having to put up with stroppy guests. I was crtitical of the management indulging in the currently fashionable race to the bottom in regard of customer service)
I have slapped some paint onto some spare figures so that the Grand Duchy of Grumbleburg will be able to send two infantry, one cavalry and one artillery units to join the 'Not British' side of Sunday's game. I need to check but should have the same for the 'British' side. Being all plastic I should be able to bring those units and the kit for the 'Star Spangled Army invades Maple Leaf County' game. As Alan has had to cancel it would be good to know if anyone is interested in playing / not interested but willing to join in Brian Brian, Fingers crossed and a big thank you for painting up the troops. Hi Anthony. Hexon tiles ok. If you can let me know how many you need.vi have a dozen or so loose. If you need any more, I'll have to dismantle my table!!!! -' no problem with that. Figures. I don't have any H.G.Wells style. I have French/allies and British Napoleonics. The only drawback is that they are small units -' infantry 8 figures (2 x 4 figure bases) cavalry 4 figures (2 x 2 figure bases) If you don't mind mixed uniforms, you could group 2 units together to make bigger units for the game. Apart from that, I have SYW and ECW -- not sure of you want to mix eras?!!!!! But there if you need a few!!!!
So I don't know if that's any use?
Oh!! Just realised I have a few Sudan figures if they'd be any use? 6 x 6 figure stands of Egyptian infantry. 3 x 3 figure stands of a Egyptian cavalry About 8 x 8 figure stands of Mahdists
Let me know if they're any good. I won't be offended if they're no use!!!!!
By the way, is it ok to bring my 2 friends on the Sunday?
Best Wishes Dave

Hi Mike,
You are a star. I could not remember how big your armies were. That should allow us to create 2 Home Service and the better part of 2 Prussian Brigades. I will be contributing another Home Service Brigade, my friend Paul is bringing some French troops and Brian is bringing British/French units.
Just in case, would you be ok bringing some Khaki NWF say:
4 units of 12 infantry All of the cavalry The Gun and the Gatling Gun.
Thanks
Dave,
Your friend should have troops to command on the Sunday so we will be pleased to see them. Maybe you could bring your Egyptians along if that's ok.
KRs

Thanks Anthony. That's 6 bases of 6 Egyptian infantry (36 figures, so 3 units if we're using the 12 figure units we used last year) and 2 bases of 3 Egyptian cavalry-- all AIP figures. The Egyptian infantry don't have texture on the bases -- is that OK? And all the figures are glued down -- I'm going to use The Portable Wargame rules -- so some method of noting casualties will be needed. Hope that's ok? See you in 3 weeks Dave

Antony,
I will be bringing 30-40 Zulu War British Infantry, one Gatling gun, one cannon, eight lancers and six irregular cavalry (along with about 90 Zulus) for my colonial portable wargame. You are welcome to use them for the big game if you want.
Cheers Anthony

I hate to day this but I'm now 'doubtful' for the weekend. I ended up in A&E on Monday night after a series of dizzy spells which had got progressively worse over a few days. They no idea on possible cause and I'm having to take things 'steady'. I'm thus unsire about a lot of travelling and falling ill a long way from home doesn't appeal. MY heart says to go but my heart is urging a bit more caution. I'll see how things go and what the news is next week but I've no idea of the date yet for a scan and can't say for definite till I do. I'm sorry for the continued uncertainty.

The latest diruption to the trains has been announced - for the the 29 Sep - Oct 1 weekend so I will have to cancel. The travel looked difficult any way but now impossible. Really sorry to miss the event.
If you're short of Not-Briish forces I'd be happy to send the Grumbleburg contingent up to you.
The Star-Spanged Army's invasion of Maple Leaf County will have to be postponed until next March. Alan and I are due to play a remote game this Thursday so I'll take some photos and post at the weekend.
THanks for all your efforts to organise this Antony and I'm sorry to have to cancel.
Brian

Hi all,
Unfortunately, I have had messages today from a couple of our stalwarts saying that they will not be able to make the gaming weekend. As such I do not think the numbers left make the event viable due to the loss of games on the Saturday and troops for the big battle on the Sunday.
Also the contribution from Imperial Miniatures would be more than I have allowed for in underwriting the cost of the hire.
Therefore, with a heavy heart, I am going to cancel the weekend. If there is enough interest I would to look to re-arrange in November but we will have to see.
All the best,
Antony
