These are a new (to me) Toy Soldier Manufacturer making 42mm figures for wargamers and collectors. I hadn't heard of them before as they don't seem to advertise anywhere... ewbts.co.uk/I can't actually work out from their website how many figures they make and how you order them!

Looks like some very nice soldiers. A little on the thick side, but some very useful figures indeed. I am particularly fond of the engineers group in their European Warfare 1840-1870 range, as well as the Pirates and Plantations line. It appears to me that they expect you to do unit-size orders with a 30 pound minimum order. The painted soldiers is also a nice touch. cheers, Jeff

Thanks for pointing this company out Mike. I hadn't heard of them. Been on the site and like the style and size I the figures (not another project?!!!) As Deratt points out, there's no clear I'd of how to order. So I've sent them a message asking about this -- we need to know what figures available for each nation and if there are different poses, etc. Once I (hopefully) get a reply, I'll let you know

I see that they plan to do Renaissance...wonder if they will do early and late Tudor figures?

Hi guys I've just managed to contact Christopher who runs the toy soldier site. I decided to phone up and had a 25 minute chat with him. He has a full time job so the toy soldier side is really a hobby for him -- hence the comment about ordering a reasonable sized order rather than just a few figures. He's sending me a list of the SYW figures available-- but he said that if you look at the painted figures (usually in groups of 5 figures) that gives a rough idea of types of figures available.
He is a wargamer so is very interested in producing figures.
The best way to get I touch with him is to email him on:
ceb@ewbts.co.uk
Seems a really good guy and very keen on wargaming -- have given him the address of this forum, so he'll hopefully join and hopefully be able to engage with us 40mm fans on a more personal basis.
Hope all that helps
Dave

Hi,
I have joined the thread, so if you do have any questions about EW Baylis toy soldiers, I’d be happy to answer them.

I have posted some pictures of the SYW cavalry I make on Facebook and the website (with the other pictures of figures for sale).

Have bought some of these figures. Ordered Tuesday and they arrived today!!!
Lovely figures with very little flash. I thought they would be toy soldiers in the Spencer Smith style, but was very surprised (and delighted) that they are crisp and nice detailed figures - so I have the choice of painting them toy soldier style or adding some detail and shading to the painting -- although I think I'll gloss varnish them whichever style I choose.
I would recommend anyone to buy some of these lovely figures -- they're great.
Best Wishes Dave

Christopher,
Could you tell me about your proposed Renaissance range? Specifically, will you release early and late Tudor figures? I like the Irregular Miniatures 42mm range but they only do the French-Italian wars so all their figures are for continental armies.
Best wishes Anthony

Christopher,
What would be most useful on the website would be PDF catalogue listing the ranges and each figure in them so that people have an idea of which figures you produce in each range.
Just a simple text listing is fine.

Have just received my first order of these figures-- a French unit and a British unit. I received only 2 days after putting in my order!!!!!
The figures ars lovely. Hardly any flash or mould lines. I thought they would be toy soldier style like Spencer Smith, but was really pleased to see that there is some nice detail so that you can paint the figures with some detailed painting/shading, etc., or paint them in a simple toy soldier style -- nice to have this option. The poses are good. The flags are nicely sculpted -- I would prefer figures with no flags so you can use paper ones bought from suppliers, but these flags, are nicely done -- they are wrapped round the flag pole and hanging down so that you only have to hint at the flag design and don't have to paint the whole design!!!!! A useful thing.
Looking forward to painting these figures. Not sure whether to just do plain green painted bases or do my usual textured bases ( think the latter as I'll be shading the figures clothes, flesh, etc.) So glad I found these figures (on this site, thanks Mike) and will definitely be using more (not another project?!!!!!!)
