Tried out the Blucher Napoleonic Rules with my 54mm collection (well, part of it) on a 6' x 4' tables using 3" Base Widths. I have played Blucher a fair amount at the Guildford Club and it usually gives a good game in 2-3 hours and you get a result. I took the French, Anthony had the allied British force (as usual!). Our cavalry corps faced off against each other and we both chose to put the stronger infantry corps in the centre. The French had 1 extra gun and the British 1 extra infantry units (around 200 points a side). My right flank took some heavy casualties but I rolled some great melee dice and eventually won the cavalry melee, completely destroying the British cavalry. With one British unit destroyed in the centre, that broke the British moral and they conceded. My artillery and fire dice were terrible all evening but I was saved by being able to retire damaged units in the centre and Anthony not following up after them. Some pictures of the action:

It was the first time for years that I had played Blucher, and it reminded me just how good a game it is. I used to play it with 6mm figures, but I really loved the look of Mike's 54mm game. There aren't many rules that can't be used with 54mm figures, and there's something about small 54mm units of approx 8 figures that really worked for me.
My stalwart (or 'steady' according to the rules!) British infantry excelled in delivering devastating volleys, reducing many French infantry units to 1 strength point ('elan'), but as Mike pointed out I failed to deliver the coup de grace by charging the battered enemy:(. However, it didn't stop me from enjoying what was a great game.

Great to see this game. We've just started usi g Blucher for our 10mm Wofun games. O'll try them with my 54s as well. We're enjoying these rules -- quite fast and fun. In 54mm, I have 8 figure infantry units and 4 figure cavalry units -- the idea fir which came from Dirk Donvil's rules and like you Anthony, This size of units works well for 54mm. Thanks for this post
