Here's some pics of an Ancient German warband I completed this weekend. I showed some unpainted examples previously on the Gauls thread but thought I'd give the Germans a new thread of their own here. All but the standard bearer are converted Weston Mexican Peasants. I bought lots of water damaged packaging sets of these (@ £10 for 4 packs!) so they make excellent value troops for large units. Hopefully before too long I intend to stage a Teutoburger Wald battle. You can see more of the forces I have gathered for this project on my blog. Rupert

Those look great - really wouldn't have occurred to me to use the mexicans as a basic figure for these,,,

I have just popped over to your blog and really enjoyed reading about your ancient armies. They are a great collection and it is interesting to see the variety of figures used.

Mike - Thanks Mike. It all started with just one figure I did for a skirmish game (the guy originally charging with a Machete wielded above his head). From there the more I looked at them the more possibilities opened up. They are simple yet effective and a joy to convert and paint.
tradgardmastre - Many thanks for your comments. Glad you saw my other blog figures. Sourcing and converting various figures has been great fun.

Hi Rupert.
Like tradgardmastre, I've had an enjoyable look at your blog. Very nice figures. And interestingly, I'm only about 16 miles away from you in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Small world isn't it.?
Best Wishes Dave

Thanks Dave - glad you enjoyed my blog figures too. Small world indeed. I am southerner but have come to love the Staffordshire countryside very much - best kept secret in the country.
