Ah, looks like you might be heading into the same territory as me! I have just got hold of a set ofthe platic figures made by Littleman and am eagerly awaiting their arrival from Russia. This will I hope save me the anguish of having to do what you propose. But I suspect I'll probably want to do some of my own too, so I will follow your thread with interest.
My own immediate thought was Timpo Eskimos, of which I have a few, but comparison shows they are nothing alike of course. So I reconed various stocky 'Red Indians' with lots of greenstuff. As the heads seem to be unique, it doesn't call for a master and casting from a mould. I also have some Samurai bits from metal kits and planned to look to see if any were werre worth making moulds of for armour panels.
Ypu have a great selection of illustrations already but I'll check with the ones the maker of the set sent me to see if there are any new ones, and post them.
I am also doing the Russian traders/trappers/settlers, as the Tlingit guy doesn't reckon on doing these for some time. Oddly he has made a new set of Neolithic Russians, and now also a set of Victorian Toughs/Characters.

Are those the figures that were produced in very limited quantities? I thought they were unavailable now. I had similar ideas re conversions but it seems quite a thought.

Who are the Tinglit going to fight? By the way, two hours north of where I live in California is Fort Ross, the Russian settlement financed by the Russian American Company between 1812 and 1839. Most Californians have no idea that there were Russians here.

Well I for one do! Fort Ross is one of our favourite family destinations when we head up to the Russian River area (note name). I'd highly recommend anyone in the area going there - the fort is pretty quiet and off the beaten track, so it is easy to picture times past when walking its grounds. Gorgeous country and some fascinating history there...
EDIT: And I have those Russian made Tlingit. Lovely figures, though at least my set is cast in a dark, almost black plastic that I find obscures detail, and since I am in a lazy painting mode these days that is a problem!

The Chintoys Mayans might work with some conversions.

The Chintoys Mayans might work with some conversions. Ah - some of the other SA sets too - just the odd figure perhaps. And possibly other Ancient EB/Chintoy sets?
Ft Ross - the construction style looks almost Roman???

I am reading a short history of Victoria, British Columbia and I was intrigued by this passage, referring to the years 1843 - 1858: "There was constant friction between the HBC (Hudson Bay Company) and the Natives, even attacks on the fort. But the Scots and French Canadians of the HBC endured - supported by Royal Navy gunboats". Some neat skirmish game ideas here if you use your Tlingits as Coast Salish. They can fight the Royal Marines! Here is an illustration of Fort Victoria B.C.
