Collective thoughts please - recently picked up cheap some of the Conte Zulu War figures in a sort of rubbery plastic with very wonky bayonets and swords etc - any thoughts / experience on stabilising them before painting - not ever come across that sort of compound before - any help appreciated - atb Tim

replace! Seriously, I have been unable to stabilise weapons so I changed them. As to the figures, with will straighten given the hot/cold water treatment, but remain floppy.

I whole heartedly agree with Mike, with Conte always replace, wonderful figures and detail but very wobbly weapons!

I can't speak for the Zulu War series but have painted up the Conte Vikings and Normans, after the hot water treatment to straighten the swords I coated the bendy parts with Evo Stick Wood Glue, which is an industrial strength PVA, and so far they have held up fine.

Thanks for that - I tend to use PVA myself on things like that and it normally works - wasn't sure about the compound but I'll give it a try as I really aint that good with a scalpel and replacing - they were cheap enough to be able to experiment with on the casualties first!

Must try the heavy duty PVA idea. What really upsets me with them is the mould line down the face. That rubbery stuff is a buggery stuff to clean up, and again I have swapped heads in frustration. I have even tried a mini-soldering iron but it is no easier in my experience.
