Inspired by the Perrys' British Intervention Force (https://www.perry-miniatures.com/index.php?cPath=23_81), which posits a British invasion of the Union during the American Civil War, I wanted to try and recreate something like that in 54mm.
Anyone know of any 54mm makers that do 1860s British (or troops that could be easy stand-ins?). I'm especially interested in anything looking like that 1855 shako.
Thanks!

If you want a traditional toy soldier Ft Henry Guards are the thing, Dorset may have something. There were 2 battalions of Guards sent over and the 78th were here in Halifax and could have been shifted. The pictures I have seen suggest that forage caps would most likely have been worn in the field, sometimes with blanket rolls over the shoulder (probably greatcoats technically). Based on that I am planning on converting figures from one of my ACW moulds. If you are going plastic you will have to do a lot of converting. -Ross gameofmonth.blogspot.ca/

Ross, I am looking for similar period figures for the Indian Mutiny. I found a figure in the 1855 shako from W. Britain's Redcoats collection: 43049 Private, 2nd Regiment of Foot, 1855. Treefrog Treasures had them on sale for $10 apiece and I bought all they had. Tedtoy has them for their original $22 price. If, and it's a big if, I decide to swap their heads for ones from ATKM wearing havelocks, I'll let you know. Have you checked Dorset soldiers? They put together a British lancer from the Mutiny for me. I bet they have the later Albert shako as a separate head.

Nick, I'm not looking for anything myself, the warchest is empty and the shelves and cupboards are full. Mind you, I still window shop on the net now and then, have you looked at the W Hocker Indian Mutiny and other ranges? wmhocker.comRoss

Sorry Ross, I realize my reply was meant for aducknamedjoe. I know William Hocker. He lives half a mile from my mother's house in Berkeley, California. I did buy one of his Mutiny sets, which gave me six mutineers, two gunners and an artillery piece that works! But, my warchest, as you call it, can no longer support such extravagance.

Take at look at Ken Cliffe's All the King's Ken Soldiers site. Under "Completed Projects" you'll see his collection of 1867 British and Canadian figures for the Fenian Raids www.allthekingsmentoysoldiers.com/fenian_raids.htmlIIRC, he used a lot of AIP figures. He may still have the molds for the shakos. Nick

London Bridge link has Britains replacement parts which include the Fort Henry guard figure and just the Fort Henry Guard head which could used for conversion of other figures.
