Late to the game again, I finally ordered some XForce Romans.
They arrived today and I had a quick skim through the boxes and all I can say is - WOW! They are even nicer in the "flesh" as it were than they are in pictures or videos. I ordered Romans: Legio II (Augustus, I think.) 2 x Legionaires, 1 x Command, 1 x Scorpio bolt throwers and 1 x Cavalry Singulaires.
It looks like there are four basic leg/body poses per Legio box, two figures of each supplied. Does this apply to the other ranges, I wonder? The Celts, Macedonians, Greeks and Persians? Do they have similar amounts of variations? A bag of arms and heads, a bag of shields and a bag with spear and sword sprues. I have not determined how many arm variants there are nor if there are any extras (I hope so!)
The command box is even more impressive, with two horns, and duplicates of all the various legion standards. I saw at least one Eagle, two of those standards the Optio - IIRC - carried - with all the disks. and four of the vexilia (is that the name? - those small square banners). Add to that two (four?) round shields for the standard bearers, and bag with what appears to be one of each of the various shield styles for the Roman range! I like how both arms are attached to the horn, making for what I think will be an easy build. Lastly, the box includes a mounted officer. The horse is as impressive as the foot figures.
The bolt thrower and cavalry boxes are similarly packed with stuff.
As I said above, I am very impressed with XForce's Romans, well designed and produced, with lots of supporting components. These are the Gold Standard, IMO.
I will be making more orders in the near future!
