So I've been looking to add to my 54mm gladiators and I've found a number of sellers on Etsy with nice figures. Often, the same figures from different sellers, all based in Ukraine. None of them list an actual manufacturer. Prices range from $5-$7 (which are the ones I'm looking at) to collectors' prices around $30 per figure. I also see at least one seller on Amazon with the same figures running around $20 each. I'm not familiar with the figures--and I've not seen them anywhere else--but can I assume these are legitimate sellers? (E.g., not pirated figures.) As much as I like the figures and the Etsy prices are certainly in my price range, I don't want to support copyright infringement. The wide price range for the same figures just makes me suspicious.
Anybody here have any experience with Ukrainian sellers?
TIA

I think it is the "Wild East". It seems to me that some of the expensive plastics (i.e. Publius) sometimes get metal versions made as well. And sometimes it seems the reverse. The history of moulds within the plastic Toy soldiers industry seems very convoluted with the moulds travelling back and forth at random it sometimes seems. Whether that is companies going out of business and then reinventing themselves under another name I don't know. There was a local furniture store called "X & Y" (not the actual name) which ran a "going out of business" sale. When they reopened they did so as "X", which after a year or so "went out of business" and reopened as "Y" which also eventually closed and reopened as "Y & X", and so on. This went on for what seemed like a very long time to me but eventually they closed and stayed closed. I suppose that is what happens with Toy Soldiers as well.

scale might be an issue. Occasionally a seller will add a ruler next to a figure. But some of them can get up to 75mm and still be advertised as 1/32nd scale good luck!

Used many of them, never has a problem. eBay provides good protection . But as I say in reviews, caveat emptor. If in doubt about size, just ask the seller. I commented recently in my review in TSCI that there are now metal figures which are cheaper than the plastic ones - go figure!
