As epaulettes, or, if trimmed, perhaps as realistic shoulder guards?
I am thinking of all the fancy 40K Space Marine conversion accessories that are floating around. They are oversize for 32-35mm scale they are intended for, so I am wondering if they can be repurposed as fancy armour decoration for 60mm knights, and similar.
Anyone tried this?

Hey Altfritz yeah I think they are a good fit. I've got a couple of 40k weapons that work well in 54mm. Alot of the hands seems to be well proportioned for our scale of choice. To me alot of 40k look like 54mm figures stuck inside 32mm bodies

Yep, GW and similar makers (Anvil Industries, Spellcrow, etc) all do heroic size bits for SF and Fantasy which work a treat. I use them all the time for SF, eg melee weapons form their Fantasy ranges as hand weapons for SF because they are often nicely ornate. Lego bits (and compatible makers, of which there are many) are also worth looking at.
The only failure so far has been shoulder pads as shoulder pads - they tend to be too small, but make excellent knee armour! I will see what photos of figures I have which show them being used.

Thanks for the info!
My thinking was to get some ornate looking pauldrons to make ordinary XForce Romans a little more fantastical. Also, banner or scepter tops. And fantastical crests for helmets. I've been looking at GW bits-sellers on ebay...
