You know when an idea grabs you and before you know it you've plunged in! I was given a set of the Peter Dennis Little Wars book at xmas and now I'm elbow-deep in Pritt Sticks and PVA, some of which is actually going where it's meant to. All the gory details here on my latest blog post.... link

Nicely cut! Don't forget the Martians!

I'm part way through building a tripod. It's a bit fiddly and I'm not very patient!! The gun that comes with the book looks a bit big (and is designed to fire paper cannon balls with an elastic band!) but Helion have a download of an ACW cannon available which I might try and scale up on the printer and see if that works.

They look good - but can you knock them over? The only gun I have that will knock over 54mm metal figures is the 18" howitzer from Britains (I have 2) - the 4.7" ones fire matchsticks which are too light...

Oh, that would knock them over quite easily. The bases are card which does make them possibly too easy to knock over but these could easily be substituted for plastic or wooden bases.

Those look great. I'm in awe of how well you cut them out - if I'd tried that they would look like war casualties.

Yup. I remember just how "well" I cut out such things when I was a kid. Lets just say pouring molten metal and wielding a paintbrush is easier and safer for me as well as more effective but Bravo! to those as can manage and enjoy them!

The cutting out is surprisingly therapeutic although it does remind me of being back at Primary school!

Well, I've had a go at building a tripod: much swearing was involved and much to my amazement a 54mm Martian Tripod is huge... who would have thought it!! All the gory details are on my blog.... link
