I've dug my out my 54's again, released them from their multi-figure bases and am making another attempt to feel my way towards a compromise between the limited size of my table and a slightly more toy soldierish or old school feel and my long held desire to have each of my "collections" or "periods" give a different type and feel of game. In the past I have too often slid into using the same style of rules, organization, basing and scenarios for multiple periods and scales leading to what I call "doing the same thing but with different hats". This step worked OK but better yet helped clarify how to tweak it to better suit all the goals. Hopefully. Meanwhile, the game, set in a fictional world in the 1870's where the forces of the Dominion ( not Canada) can be seen trying to hold off a larger invading force ( not Fenians) here: 1st Pine Ridge Fork battle report
