I have been collecting mostly Britains miniatures for the Charge of the Light Brigade as well as the charge of the Heavies and Highlanders for the Thin Red Streak. As October 25th was the 167th anniversary of the battle of Balaclava I decided to take my collection out of its boxes and give the figures a review. My aim is to have a minimum of six miniatures for each of the five regiments of the Light Brigade. I can see that I'm pretty close. I will also need a Lord Cardigan to lead them. To oppose them I have more Russian gunners and infantry that I didn't put out who will man the "cannon to the left of them, cannon to the right of them". I need more Cossacks to wait for them at the end of the valley. Too bad Britains never made any Crimean Russian hussars or dragoons. I have plenty of time to muse over what rules to use, possibly A Gentleman's War or Stuart Asquith's rules. I hope to have it all ready for Balaclava Day 2022.

Will you eventually include the Chasseurs d'Afrique?

I have a unit of the Del Prado French Chasseur d' Afrique 1850. They tower over the Britains, but they will do.

Ah nostalgia! 20 years ago I had most of these. Got a deal on the light brigade from Stuart Asquith, picked up an Imperial Russian artillery gun and crew from a Gettysburg Toy Soldier shop, and bought some Britain's Russians and Zouaves and some.....umhm Beaugeste? hmm something like that,...Argentinian toy soldier company.. Zouaves.
Eventually I had to drop the plan, sold the French and Russians and the Light Brigade has provided all my 1860/70's American and Canadian cavalry!
I hope your guys get to fight it out!
