In September 2021 I started collecting and painting HaT 1/32 scale plastic Republican Romans and Carthaginians. As of the first week of November 2021 I have completed the painting of 5 units of Carthaginians ( 2 x Iberians, 1 x Celts, 1 x African, 1 x Light Infantry and a half unit of Veterans). All of my infantry units will be 32 figures which corresponds to the contents of two boxes of HaT figures (16 per box). My efforts have now turned to painting some Roman Hastati and Princeps troops to face them. I will try to upload pictures, but even when my file size is less than 1MG I can't seem to upload the pictures to this forum. As an alternative, please visit my blog: Der Alte Fritz Journal to view all of the blog posts on my Punic Wars Project for the months of September, October and November 2021. altefritz.blogspot.com/2021/10/you-say-hastati-and-i-say-princeps.htmlaltefritz.blogspot.com/2021/10/they-certainly-have-lot-of-gaul.htmlaltefritz.blogspot.com/2021/10/cives-romani-adsunt.html

Impressive looking project. I have limited myself to using the figures for Command and Colours Ancients with one figure per block... You calways post a link to your pictures rather than uploading them : Mike

Welcome Jim! I've been following the project on your blog and really enjoying it (as I did your earlier Sudan project in 54mm).

Hi Jim,
your punic war project is wonderful. The gauls look ready for a wild charge.

They look really nice! I’ve got my 54mm Punic Wars forces based in units of 12 for infantry and 6 for cavalry and skirmishers and I use a version of the Lion Rampant rules (Eagle Rampant) that was in one of the wargaming magazines a couple of years ago. For Roman standard bearers and musicians I’ve used Irregular Miniatures Imperial Roman figures with a bit of modification (e.g. filing off their trousers) and they fit in pretty well - the standards are not totally historically correct but I can live with that! 🤫 Bill

Are they pretty comparable?

The Irregular figures are slightly shorter than the Hat figures (couple of millimetres maybe) but I just mounted them on thicker bases and that helped. I’ll try and post a picture tomorrow so you can see better any differences in the sizes 👍

Hi - took some pictures of the Irregular Miniatures figures next to the Hat figures but when I tried to add as an attachment it says the file is too big to attach! I’m only trying to attach one photo that was taken on my iPad - I’m not great with technology so could someone advise me on what I’m doing wrong please?
79thpa - if you give me your email address I can try emailing you the comparison pictures if that would help? Just let me know
