I'm about to play my 1st game using these rules - but it will be Napoleonic.
I'd like to use them for an Ancients game but note that there are no rules for elephants, chariots or light horse archers.
I was thinking of trying to write my own additions to the rules to cover this but before I do, I wondered if anyone had already done this and would be willing to share their ideas with me and others who had thought of doing the same thing.
Thanks. Best Wishes Dave

There is a Facebook group devoted to these rules. Might be worth checking there to see if anyone has written rules for these.

I’ve got the book and the scenarios are very useful but I’ve never tried using the rules. Big fan of his other rule books though - the ancient wargaming rules are quite straightforward and give a good, quick game. They use a standard eight units for every army, which can disadvantage armies that historically had poorer quality troops, but I’ve tweaked them so that different types of units have a points value (based on the Armati ancient rules lists) This means one side e.g the Macedonians might have 8 units of good quality troops whereas the Persians might have 12 units of mixed quality troops - this seems to give a more balanced game. Thanks bigbill. I have the Ancient rules and played them years ago. But the older I get, the simpler the rules I want. Hence the one hour set. But will look again at his Ancidnt rules - might be able to pinch ideas and de elop the one hour rules

Know what you mean Dave about the simpler the better - vague memories of all those add-on melee and morale factors using WRG Ancients rules back in the day! 😴
