I’m trying to track down a good cheap source of mounted knight figures. Looks like I missed out on the Italeri sets which is a shame. I’m not looking for period specific or historical accuracy as they will be used in my fantasy games too. Just something basic to get me started, and then I will fill in with more luxury figures in the future. So far there is are a serviceable amount available in the toy knight Chinese knockoff sets on Amazon and eBay (the 28pc sets under multiple different brand names), but I’m not massively impressed with the lack of barding - the horses feel more like outrider mounts to me than heavy shock. Otherwise it seems to be the more expensive plastics from Steve Weston, or bidding on eBay for Britains etc. which all adds up when trying to build a reasonable beginner force of cavalry. Have I missed a holy grail manufacturer or website that offers what I am looking for? If anyone has used figures they are interested in selling let me know.

There used to be some pretty good Timpo knight copies floating around on Amazon and whatnot, apparently by a company called "Hunson Ltd." You can see some examples of the mounted figures here: www.stadsstuff.com/?p=6334

Thanks, they look like a good base to customise. I’ll keep an eye out on eBay here as that seller doesn’t ship to the UK. Have you seen Hunson products for sale in US retail?

Yes but it was years ago; I haven't seen them recently unfortunately.

Some just cropped up that will ship to the UK on eBay. Got them on my watch list.

I was able to get some Italeri Crusader knights on a good eBay deal, so that gives me a nice force of 8 to get going with.
