It has been quiet on here recently - what projects are people beavering away on?
I still have more 40mm AWI to paint and am looking at how to make some cornfields and other terrain to give some variety to the battlefield.
I have just dug out some Airfix 1/32nd scale French to add to my Napoleonic forces and have started looking again at the Airfix British infantry that I started converting by carving off their wings and changing their heads to belgic shakos.
There are also 24 Airfix highlanders to paint and a bunch of guns and crew that need tarting up and properly basing.

I am amassing 40mm FIW figures (Sash and Sabre) and now have enough to put on a decent game. I have British and French line, Rangers, American and French militia and Mohicans.

Refurbishing and converting vintage 4cm Elastolins for a series of games at the Huzzah! Convention in Maine in May. ('Vintage' as in made in the 1950's/60's but since I was also made in the 50's I don't consider them antiques.)

Been working on a couple of games for Historicon 2024. Since the theme is "Hollywood goes to Historicon", I'm painting up highly accurate models for games based on movies based on real battles. Extensively researched by watching dozens of film clips on YouTube (I just don't have time to watch the full movies multiple times) Such as this tank for a game based on the movie "Patton"... One down, three to go for the Germans. Then I've four for the Yanks. Same, same for the game I'm doing based on the 1965 movie "Battle of the Bulge". Oh, and I'm doing Infantry for them too. Eric

Firstly failing to post pictures here, nothing new in that ! Secondly using Deetail Guardsmen as conversion subjects to make 1910 or so Danes by giving them a headswap. They will oppose my Swedes ( in experimental uniforms complete with tricorns) in some OMOG games . Also painting some old battered Britains sailors as Danish sailors.

well I have some 54mm late medieval crossbowmen from irregular to convert to anglo-norman but also the wife won't allow this to delay progress in stripping 4 doors. So I've told her the paint stripper needes two-three hours to work, should get away with it unless she reads the tub.

I am slowly getting my 1860s New Zealand colonial war collection ready for a game. Figures will be based individually but I need to settle on a rules set. I would love to run a game on April 28th, one day off from the 160th anniversary of the Gate Pa battle. I also need to build a quick and dirty trench system.

Eric,
I have played a lot of TSATF, but never the small unit variant. I assume one of the eight figures is the leader? That gives a subtle advantage to the natives, as, in the original rules, the Imperial units have two leaders in their twenty man units, but the natives only have one. But, I can see that in this particular case, fighting on their home ground, the Maori should have the advantage.

Actually, the way I play it, the "Leader" figure fires just like everyone else. What I've done is take two twenty figure units and turn them into four eight figure units, with the remainder as leaders or whatever you need them to be.
It means a couple of figures get left out. Sometimes, I know guys will use ten figure units, since Imperials have two leaders per 20 figure unit.
But everything else stays the same.
Would love to see pictures! Maori Wars are on the Dream List. Probably will never get to them.

Per my earlier post, here are some of the US Infantry I've been working on. Figures by MPC and bought through MicShaun's Closet. Vallejo colours and Army Painter washes. Eric

My local pal, Mat, and I played a couple of outdoor games with Lionia versus Redia with the former outnumbering the latter nearly two to one but having less firepower. We also played a couple of Daleks versus UNIT games. The major project is to reboot our fantasy campaigns that have been running since 2014. Our major countries are entering 18th century to Napoleonic level. We will be using American revolution and Napoleonic troops for the new regulars. However, players can elect to still employ older types including plate armored troops, long bows and sorcerers.
My Beerstein will be coming under attack from Necrolia compete with vampire counts and other nasties so I might continue to use Crusader knights as they have magic resistance and will probably get into close combat with a lot of nasties. Mat, will be fighting Aztecia, which is not as advanced in weaponry but still has sorcerers and dinosaurs.
