I hope this take off. I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute to this forum. I have a lot of irons in the fire right now, but you never know!

Nice to be here - though I can't say I've had any issues with Yahoo!

Nice to be here - though I can't say I've had any issues with Yahoo! Tim I've found online access to Yahoo! groups quite unresponsive and was looking at ditching mine. I guess if you only use them via email there isn't that much of an issue. I'm glad that Mike has started this forum as it might encourage me to get more units done for my 54mm Napoleonics to face him. Just two done in two years... and a third under the brush. Ian

Thanks for starting this forum, Mike! I'm Ken Cliffe, owner of All the King's Men Toy Soldiers in Georgia, USA. 54mm has been my wargame and hobby passion for decades; it's all I do as All the King's Men. Feel free to visit my site at the link below. I offer AWI, ACW, War of 1812 and some Napooleonics, plus terrain. There are also free rules PDFs on the ATKM site that you're welcome to download. I hope this forum takes off. 54mm wargaming is ultimately buried on other lists and forums, and deserves its own spotlight.
Ken

I guess I should introduce myself here. I've posted a runaway answer to post elsewhere on this forum that has most of the relevent info so I'm just going to copy it below. I prefer email groups to online forums which seems to make me a bit of a dinosaur but Littlewars on yahoo has been awfully quite compared to the "old days" so happy to chime in here. For more on me and 54mm wargames since 2010 see the 54mm label on my blog: gameofmonth.blogspot.ca/search/label/54mmRoss "Leaving childhood out, I started 54mm wargaming with the War of 1812 in 1995/6, just before the explosion of new plastics. That meant conversions and searching for old Airfix figures then rapidly adding BMC, marx recasts and Barszo. Some local friends got interested and soon it was ACW, AWI, Ancients and WWII in 54mm and I started the Yahoo Littlewars Group. Then Stuart Asquith's column in Military Modelling led me to Soldier Pac and then I discovered a source of homecast molds that included some old Britain's copies and I was off on my old dream project ACW/Britain at war over the Trent incident/Fenian Raids. But I got sidetracked with Colonials...... Anyway I got sidetracked by life changes and in 2006 decided to downsize to 40mm. I parted with almost all of my plastic and newer metal 54s (still a few 1812 ones waiting to be touched up and sent looking for a new home). I just couldn't part with my old Britain's though, esp a few from my childhood and a collection that I bought from a widow whose husband had them since his childhood. I promised to cherish and enjoy them not lock them away. So what could I do? I am back tinkering with 1860s & 70s Canada - US toy soldier games." Ross

Hello everyone! I'm Arthur and I've been wargaming since I read Don Featherstone's chapter in How To Go Collecting Model Soldiers by Henry Harris many, many years ago. I have a Britain's 4.7 inch gun and an assortment of 54mm plastic figures - some of which I rescued from a gutter in Wimbledon Broadway (couldn't bear to let the brave fellows be squashed by the traffic)! - with which my children and I fought Little Wars when they were young enough to be willing to indulge their father's eccentricity... Now, semi-retired but still working part-time, I've become far more interested in simple, old school style toy soldier games, such as Cordery's Portable Wargames and Howard Whitehouse's new set, though space and cost may well result in me adopting a smaller scale for most of my games.

Mike, Thank you for conceiving and implementing this site; a fantastic and great idea. Thank you also for the H.G. Wells' reference and rules link. I read those a while ago and was very inspired. I had been war gaming for several years mostly in 15,mm and 1/72 scale until one fateful day. On that day at a small but crowed, biannual convention in Orlando, Florida (HMGS South - Hurricon, and Recon) I spied a beautifully displayed gaming table clustered with posed 54mm American Revolution figures. I first supposed them to be a diorama, but when I discovered they were to play with not just to display I became very excited and an immediate fan, collector, and player of 54mm soldiers. These were Ken Cliffe's own All The Kings Men figures. I had come across the usual variety of 54mm figures but they were "for collectors" not players. Without droning on it suffices to say I have been a 54mm fan ever since. My affliction has become contagious in our small village in Florida and we now boast five steady 54mm players (and collectors). These have become a staple in our little but steady gentlemaen's parlor gaming. To you and Ken from ATKM - kudos for bringing 54mm figures and gaming to our attention. I certainly will spread the word. Stephen Quintero Tallahassee, Florida

Welcome to the forum Stephan. I think Ken is responsible for my getting into the hobby as well. It was at one of the HMGS east conventions many years ago. His figures paint up really well and fit in with a lot of plastic ranges. Plus his rules are fun.

Great to see a proper forum dedicated to 54mm. I'm fed up of trying to Google 54mm sites and ending up either disappointed in the results or ploughing through reems of useless stuff in order to find a miniscule article at the end.
Hope the site takes off. A great idea.
Best Wishes daveL

ATKM AWI definitely look appealing, though I REALLY need to finish some projects before I start anything else new...

Good point - new board added. Are those the Star Wars Command figures?

Awesome.
And yes (though not my paint job)!
I did, however, buy a couple hundred to do some sci-fi skirmishes/RPG playing.
