I don't know if it's just me but apart from the new grenadier bearskin head I can't see much difference from the previous Prussian sets? Any thoughts anyone? Austrain coats were fuller. The Prussian regiments had two different cuffs. IIRC Fusiliers and one or two others had "Swedish Cuffs" - which I think might be like the Austrians - but the rest have "Prussian Cuffs" which are skimpier. I think Duffy says that overall the uniforms were skimpier (Frederick being such a cheap skate!) In the 90's I could have told you better, but I haven't done much SYW for 20 years now so it is a bit foggy.

Are these 18th century figures better than zone of their Ancient figures, which I found to be very bendy and poorly moulded?

I rejected the offer for receiving this test sprue as I have no use for SYW figures and very little painting time, however, having received the Napoleonic Austrian command set I think HaT is really stepping up its game!

Forget the Hat French Dragoons and Brunswick avant garde they made around 2002! Since 2010/12 HaT made many nice sets since than! French Light Infantry Carabiniers, Chasseurs and Voltigeurs! They have great Bavarians, Wurtembergers, Prussians and Russians! ;-) And yes their latest sets are great! Like the SYW Prussians and their upcoming SYW and Napoleonic Austrians look great too! Have a look at my blog ;-) stansarmee.blogspot.com/

That's great news. Is there a release date yet?
This SYW range is lovely. I have some Prussians and now eagerly await the Austrians.
Just hope they get a move on and release cavalry and artillery. As I'm now 68, I'm thinking that at the slow rate they producdcfigures, In may no longer be around when the ca alry and artillery appear!!!!!!

I've been in touch with HaT to ask about the SYW Austrians.
Apparently they're being produced in the factory now, but no release date is available at the moment.
These SYW figures are really good. As many if you know, I'm a great fan of Expeditionary Force figures, But these HaT figures are really nice.
Let's hope a release date Will be given soon.
Hat take so long to release things. I think they're missing a huge market here with these SYW figures. At the rate HaT work, I think I'll be dead before they release artillery and cavalry!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if The SYW Austrian command comes with a horse for the mounted officer? If not, I wonder Why?
If no horse is available, can anyone suggest which horses/manufacturer to use. Thanks

Does the Austrian command box come with a horse for the mounted officer? Would seem strange if it doesn't,
If it doesn't, any suggestions which horses/manufacturer could be used? Thanks
