They look really realistic...very impressive indeed. If I might ask what colour are you using for your flesh, I'm colourblind and struggle when painting figures.

Hi the giant trimble,
I know you were asking Don about the paints, but thought I'd let you know the paints I use. I love the Life colour paints. There are 6 pots - 1st Base, 2nd Base, 1st shadow, 2nd shadow, 1st highlight and 2nd highlight.
I think they're easy to use and I use it for my models and busts as well as my wargaming figures.
Hope that helps.
Best Wishes Dave

Hi there....I use foundry paints: flesh B. The middle of the triade. I do an army painter wash over it and add a highlight with flesh B again.
Cheers, Don

I did a line up for my idea of up coming battallion games. Inf. battallions will be 8 strong with 2 voltigeurs, 2 grenadiers and fusiliers incl. command. So far I have 3 battllionss on work with 1 or 2 cannons and some converged voltigeurs and grenadiers battllions.... Still a lot to paint... Cheers, Don

That is really nice.
I also like the building with the wallpaper - clever idea.
You make Victrix figures look much better than I thought they did - I wasn't that taken with their 28mm style proportions (big hands, etc) compared with most 54mm...

Thanx, Mike. 54mm is for me a whole new continent.... I started with Victrix so their proportions are a kind of standard now for me. I do not know if I willl start with true proportion miniatures soon... Okay, here is the next mameluke. Pretty WIP but you get the idea.... I try to reach 4-5 models for a cav unit. Cheers, Don

Hi Don,
Love the Mamalukes. It's such a pity Victrix aren't developing their 54mm range, as I think any cavalry from them would be amazing.
Like you, I'm using Italieri cavalry 54mm figures, although they are difficult to come by now. (A rep in the model shop I use told me that the old guy running Italieri had died and his son had taken over, and he wasn't interested in 54mm figures so the line has been discontinued).
Love the red on your Mamalukes. What paint have you used for the bases, shade and highlights? Also what colour for the green?
Best Wishes Dave

Those look excellent - are the Spanish based on French figures? Or conversions of something else?

Amazing. And welcome back!!! You're obviously a dab hand with the green stuff. I wouldn't even attempt such a thing as I'd just make a mess of it.
Had thought of using the British to make some Portuguese, but would have to give them to my mate to do. They'd be great, but of course, I'd have to pay as it's his job and I think it might become too expensive.
Like Mike, I'd be interested to find out which figures you're using for the conversions.
Looking forward to seeing them painted.
As I said in an earlier post, I'm really disappointed that Victrix aren't developing the range as I think they're great figures.
Best Wishes Dave
