very nice aduck thanks for all the info and pics! you make it look easy I can't wait to see what else you come up with. Posts like yours are really good at removing hesitation when thinking about trying something new. How big do you think your unpainted pile of figures will get now?

Haha, and probably infinite...
I do want to try out a 3D-printed mold since for bigger figures like 54mm that's more time effective than printing out a bunch of them, but I need to learn some 3D modelling first.

Some new 54mm prints today. The related Star Wars one is the stormtrooper with a rocket launcher to deal with those pesky rebel speeders.
This is the most 54mm I've printed at one time (4 figures, though I easily could have fit 4-6 more on the build plate). Took about 8 hours to print as I oriented them to be standing more straight since I've learned that minimizes the visible support marks on the figure.
Fresh off the printer:
Star Wars comparison shot (both middle models are 3D printed):
I scaled the stormtrooper a bit too big I think, especially because he's crouching down. You can see the helmet is thicker than the Star Wars Command figure. To be fair, the stormtrooper model I used was sculpted for 35mm gaming, so the proportions are naturally chunkier and less true-scale. And here's all the 3D printed troops from today plus the previous one. The others are Halo troops (marine, Spartan, and drop trooper) and all are available for free here: kawassass00.gumroad.com/

Jhonpog, Toys 'R' Us had a ton of them back in the day. I almost bought around a dozen sets, and then I figured out that I probably wouldn't ever do anything with them, so I passed them up.

The command figures 79thpa? Yeah I remember seeing plenty of them too. I was deep into the unleashed and deagostini figures at the time and most of them were too out of scale for my tastes so I passed on them aswell. I wish they had been just a fraction bigger (5mm) and heftier Oh well I'm sure there will be another wave of 54mm star wars at some stage.....well there was that chess set that came out a few years ago.... but arguably what aducknamedjoe is doing now is the best way to get more inscale figures.

Those look quite amazing, Joe. What an exciting time we live in, when such things are possible! Do you plan to paint them?

Yeah you're dead right gonefishing that ability to scale prints up to 1/32 or thereabouts is a game changer. It really gives us many more options. As for painting yes I will be attempting to paint them up. I've been mucking around with a few contrast paints with some success. Stormtroopers are deceptively hard to paint well so I am going to cheat as much as I can Very grateful to you Aduck for printing these hope I do them justice

small update from me: Twilek smuggler made from a Walking Dead figure and Unleashed battle pack head cast. Weequay scavenger. This one was made of bits: Luke skywalker body, chess set darth maul legs, old washer for a hat and a bit of sculpting. Looks better in person My continued efforts to make 1/32nd scale rebel fleet troopers. 3 converted airfix GI's and a heavily chopped down unleashed battlepack figure. I'm pretty happy with that one on the left which started off as that GI firing from the shoulder figure

And saving the best to last. I had literally finished painting the last of my backlog of SW figures when this arrived from Aducknamedjoe. Thank you man! These arrived in the post yesterday. 19 pieces of pure 3d printed goodness. The detail is amazing, the resin has a good feel to it; alot like a traditional toy soldier but with a nice matt finish that will take paint really well. Here's 3 imperial army troopers next to my converted airfix british commando. You can see the height and heft are very similar but the detail on the 3d figures is nuts. I only hope I can do a decent job of painting them up lol. 5 of the 8 troopers I received from Aduck. I have been a bit unsatisfied with the stormtrooper options out there but these guys are great. The heft again is really good they look very imposing. The height and detail are very good and some of the poses look like they came straight out of the first SW film nice! 3 of the 5 Rogue 1 style rebels with Alien heads. I am going to muck about with a couple of these figures but again the detail is so good. On the right is a cheap plastic toy conversion into an endor style rebel and an unleashed battlepack hoth trooper to Mon Cal rebel conversion. Last up 1 more of the 5 R1 figures. This guy is pretty much the same proportions as my existing Mon Cal so they will work very well together. The figure on the right is another cheap toy soldier conversion with a deagostini diecast head and unleashed blaster. Toy soldiers make for some easy but decent looking conversions. I have about 25 rebel ground troops now. Almost enough for a battle I'll post progress pics as I go. I am now trying desparately to resist the temptation to get a printer there are HEAPS of figure options out there...

Yay! Glad they arrived in one piece And there should be 21 pieces if I'm not wrong, as the headless aliens should have two trandoshan and one rodian head (plus Thrawn). The heads would have been in a little plastic baggie inside the box in case you missed it.
Don't resist, join the dark side and get one! They're super affordable right now and it's a very rewarding hobby in its own right...
Also, love that Twi'lek smuggler; excited to see what you can do with these new figures once you get them painted up!
