As it's pretty convenient for the station and Element games I'm intending to stay there but I've tried to book on their website 3 times without success and they're not answering their phone. I'll try again later and hopefully confirm.

Hi all,
Played Wiley Games' Bigger Battles so I think we will use these rules for the themed big battle.
Players will need 5-6 units, one of which will be a commander.
Regular Infantry - 10-12 figures Regular Cavalry - 6-8 figures Irregular Foot - 12-16 figures Irregular Cavalry - 8-10 figures Guns & Crews 3, 4 or 5 figures plus gun
Tribal Foot - 12-16 figures
I have also invited some gentleman along on the Saturday who will be putting on a 54mm Crusades, between them they have a massive 54mm collection covering a number of periods.

I've not managed to book at Premier Inn despite numerous attempts. Can't help wondering if its anything to do with the feedback I gave about their branch in Sheffield!
I've booked at the Alma Lodge Hotel which is about 500 yards further south along Buxton Road so still fairly convenient.
Yes, I would like to go for a meal on the Saturday evening

It turns out that I have a copy of Bigger battles - it's great that Wargames Vault records your previous purchases...
At 5 or 6 units I could muster an army to bring along.

Anthony - do you have an idea of a finish time on the Sunday so I can book a train?

I have been delaying getting too involved in this thread as I have been struggling with the dates eventually chosen. Unfortunately as my 65th birthday falls on the Saturday, I have been under family pressure to stay at home etc. I am sad to be missing the weekend as it sounds like its going to be well attended and full of toy soldier action. I hope that everyone has a splendid time and that it will be held again next year, when I can join in.

Hi all,
We have picked up a couple more attendees from the posts I did on 'A Gentleman's War' and 'HG Wells Little Wars' Facebook pages.
Brian was asking about a finishing time on Sunday, might I suggest we go for 15:00hrs? This should give those travelling south or getting trains a chance to get home at a reasonable time.
Finally, for those who are coming to meal on Saturday night are there any types of cuisine we need to avoid?
All the best,
Antony

Could we have an update on the number of people and the games games arranged for the Saturday? I've always ensured that we don't have more games than players to ensure every game is played if it is put on...

Thanks Antony. Though it turns out that because Avanti West Coast have cut their services from London to Manchester that it isn't currently possible to book for those dates... I'll keep trying. The alternative of travelling via Sheffield fails to appeal as it takes an hour longer and costs 50% more.
There's nothing I'd avoid in the way of cuisine apart from sushi.
