I think they've announced a rail strike for the 1st October. Double check, but I'm certain I heard that on the radio today

Downloaded the file but my phone says it can't open. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I regret to say that I'm having to cancel my attendance at the weekend. Checking with rail enquiries, Avanti have still not settled the timetable and no bookings can be made for that weekend. Checking just a few days ahead, there are tickets at more reasonable prices but some, clearly for popular trains, at even higher ones - £369 - but with cancellations possible at short notice. The advice for the 2nd October is of more cancellations. Given that my chronic health issues are being troublesome I really to don't want to have difficult travelling.
I'm really sorry to miss the event, I've been looking forward to it, meeting other 'little wars' enthusiasts and to running the smugglers' game as well as playing in the big game. I hope it goes well and you all have a great time.
Brian

Brian,
Really sorry that you will not be able to make the weekend.

Evening all, l have and continue to have major booking problems too with regard to trains. It seems to get worse not better , not to mention the strike. It is therefore with regret l have decided that I can’t come to the event. I was looking forward to it greatly but I find it untenable. Ironically it would be far easier if it were in Woking . Apologies Anthony and have a great weekend everyone. See you in Woking next year.

Hi all, You will have seen that we have lost a couple due to rail strikes/inept railway companies, so the list of attendees for the weekend looks like this: Saturday | Sunday | Antony | Antony | Mike | Mike | Anthony | Anthony | Davel | Davel | Davel’s friend | Davel’s friend | lotsoffigures1879 | lotsoffigures1879(possibly) | greaterharlequin | greaterharlequin | macscrooge | macscrooge | John Clarke | John Clarke | Paul Watson | - |
I have messaged some of members listed to see whether they are still coming. I went to Element Games on Thursday to discuss arrangements. They are considering putting us at the front of the hall so people can see what we are doing and ask questions. This may change as there is an X-wing tournament on the Saturday. For the Saturday we currently have 6 6’x4’ tables and a 12’x4’ for the demo game. For Sunday for the big battle we have a 20’x4’ table to play on. I will be bobbing into Element during the week before our gathering to confirm what we need. As for times the games centre should be open from 09:phrase to 17:00hrs on both days. Regards, Antony

Hi Anthony Just a question about food. Can we get something at Element Games, or do we need to bring lunch with us. Many thanks Looking forward to the event very much. Best wishes Dave

Dave,
You can bring something with you, order pizza to be delivered to the gaming table or bob out as there are some places locally to get a sandwich.
The only restriction that Element have is that you buy your drinks from them, they have a bar which serves hot, cold and alcoholic drinks.

Antony,
Is there any way of putting two of the 6 x 4s together to make an 8x 6? Just planning the North West Frontier Game...
